peace and tranquility
We’ve endeavoured to create a quiet, elegant, and inspirational environment in which guests can relax and rejuvenate. Our distinctive mix of historic charm, contemporary feel, and a commitment to exceptional guest service is unlike any other.
This historic 1850s stone farmhouse and adjoining carriage house, originally built to support a 200–acre dairy farm, now sits on a tranquil 50–acre property. Its waving pastoral fields, maple forest, wetlands, and majestic post–and–beam bank barns offer a peaceful setting to relax, unwind, and pursue health and wellness.
unique and charming
A charming 1830s two-story stone farmhouse is an out-of-the-way gem. The ground floor boasts a choice of inviting spaces, including a private dining room affectionately known as the 'green room.' Here, you can savor meals in a warm and intimate setting. Weather permitting, enjoy your meals on the screened veranda, adding an extra touch of alfresco dining during the warmer seasons. Our library, adorned with an eclectic book collection and an array of board games, offers a cozy spot for relaxation. Throughout this delightful abode, you'll encounter original pine floors, a captivating gable ceiling, and substantial 2-foot external stonewalls, all adorned with a blend of period and contemporary furnishings, original artwork, photography, and stained-glass elements, creating a unique and harmonious atmosphere.
Our rooms
We provide three guestrooms located on the second floor within a separate wing of our historic stone house. Accessible via a charming staircase, these rooms are elegantly furnished and come with complimentary amenities for your comfort. Each of these rooms—the Stonegate Room, the Hayfield Room, and the Gardenview Room—is thoughtfully decorated and uniquely furnished to harmonize with the unique ambiance of our limestone farmhouse. Additionally, all of these rooms offer picturesque views of our lovely property.

Exciting food with high quality presentation in a cozy and pleasant atmosphere.Cathy2022-10-19David and Alicia were warm gracious hosts who made us feel most welcome. The room was beautiful with everything we needed and so clean. Alicia did dinner the first night which was delicious and presented so nicely, breakfast amazing. They were helpful with suggestions and we had done a walk after we checked out and Alicia went out of her way to make us a bodem coffee to take away. The little extras so appreciated. Make this a a place to stay!! CathyGord Campbell2022-10-04From the moment we drove up to the property you could feel the stress peel away. Alicia greeted us on the beautiful wrap around porch and took us to our cosy room. The house has so much character and Alicia and Dave put so much work into making everything calming. We had a great night sleep and woke up to an absolutely delicious breakfast. Dave didn’t have to ask if we enjoyed it because our dishes were scraped clean. After breakfast Dave took us on a tour of the property which is so peaceful and then we had a great chat with both of them before we left. They are such a great couple, hard working and very down to earth. We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay and hope to see Alicia and Dave again soon. You definitely want to stay here and be transported to somewhere very special!Nicole Leblanc2022-09-27If you want a beautiful place for a quiet and private afternoon tea take a drive out to the country and visit Harlem Stonegate. Although this operates as a B&B there is no need to be a guest, just make sure to call and reserve in advance. The tea service was fantastic. The food was devine. And the service was top notch. Thank you Alicia and Dave for making my birthday a fantastic one!Miranda Heredia2022-08-21The bed and breakfast was excellent. Recently renovated rooms with all the amenities you could want. Very comfortable stay. Also the breakfast was delicious and gorgeous ambiance to eat. I would highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting a night away from the city.N B2022-07-31I highly recommend this place for nature lovers or anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. The 50-acre farm offers a deeply peaceful experience, with bird song as the only background noise. The beds are very comfortable (rare for a B&B), and the owners go the extra mile to help guests feel at home.Kendra Ferris2022-07-14Our stay was comfortable and peaceful from start to finish. Pulling in, it was like we found a beautiful oasis on the country - the beautiful house, lush gardens and golden wheat fields. Lisa and Dave welcomed us and showed us to our room - the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. And the small touches made such a big difference. From the water and chocolates in the room to the self-serve tea service to give us a quiet start to the morning... And the food! Maybe it was the fresh air from exploring the property that got my appetite up because The breakfast was delicious - everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. I loved exploring the library - the selection of books is so well curated. I found classics that I had forgotten about and new books that caught my interest. I wish I could have stayed for a week, reading and relaxing in the hammock by the pond. I will most definitely be back!Lolly2021-11-03The warm, fine hospitality, the thoughtful touches, the beds, the beautiful location, the food!! The food. The hosts are fantastic and we were so comfortable. We rode gravel bikes from Ottawa, rail trail all the way from Ottawa and side roads back. Perfect.Rob Harn2021-10-04

Property was extremely quiet and hosts were most welcoming and wishing to make us very comfortable. Property was very rural and lovely. ☹ More time to relax on the property and chat with the owners.Nadia2023-10-189.0WonderfulAnne2023-10-1610Absolutely lovely location and the hosts were amazing!! ☺ Beautiful, picturesque location.Kapil2023-10-1010Exceptional ☺ The host were so so welcoming and warm. Alicia just went the extra mile in making us feel really special as we were celebrating my wife's birthday!!Marie2023-10-1010ExceptionalMimi2023-09-1910LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this wonderful charming GEM ☺ I must say that this gem that we found hidden in vast greenery has given us a sense of peacefulness. Though, we stayed for only 1 night. We had the best sleep ever. Must admit, the tranquility, the ambiance, and that bed was so so comfortable. Breakfast was included, and although we are both not breakfast eaters. I must admit that that quiche is the best that we've ever eaten. Veggies are fresh, straight from the garden. The freshly cut fruits to a cup of yogurt was unbelievably tasty. Our hosts David & Alicia are truly kindhearted, very welcoming, and accommodating to our well-being.Wilfried2023-09-157.0GoodMatthew2023-08-0710Exceptional
Paradise218899658782023-09-02Calm and Soothing Environment in Nature Bedroom with en suite is truly lovely. Simple elegance indeed! We were offered a choice: Breakfast on the verendah was what we love! The gardens are so well loved, “growing one’s own”. Good for a break from city life!Nikki J2023-06-18Heaven on Earth This was my second visit to Harlem Stonegate. The first time was 2 nights. This time was 5 nights. Next time, I may not leave! David and Alicia are the most incredible hosts! They are a power couple who pour their heart and soul into ensuring their guests are comfortable and well taken care of. If you are in desperate need of rest and relaxation in a breathtaking, quiet, peaceful, and serene environment, I CAN'T recommend anything higher than Harlem Stonegate! My first stay was in the Garden View Room which was SO cozy and elegant with an amazing view. My second stay was a huge tent in the middle of the hayfield, and it was the most luxurious camping experience I've ever had! The fire flies at night was the most gorgeous sight I've ever laid my eyes upon! And to awaken to the beautiful sounds of nature every morning was absolutely amazing! I sought out coaching from David, and the man is a gold mine of knowledge! I can't believe how much I learned in 5 days. Since knowing David, my life has improved so much. I can't thank him enough for his knowledge and all that I've learned. And the food..... oh my God!!! Remember Grandma's cooking and baking, from scratch, from the garden? NOTHING is better than homemade, and these 2 are magic in the kitchen! I apologize for the long review, but it's so very hard to paint a picture of my amazing experiences at Harlem Stonegate in so few words. Do yourself, your mind, your body, your spirit, and your soul a favor and book a stay at Harlem Stonegate! You will not regret it 💓💓💓OnAir169818478482023-06-09Hidden GEM in Eastern Ontario - off the beaten path Outstanding B&B in paradise - away from the hustle and bustle of the great city and yet close to many historic sights (Rideau locks) and quaint towns (Perth and Westport). The hosts are most gracious and true professionals when it comes to making their guest feel welcome - the 1830s house has been renovated with great taste. The rooms are comfortable and the bed in our room was the biggest, most comfortable bed, I remember. The breakfast was for true gourmets.... we will be back !Mychèle2023-06-06Welcoming, delicious and horses across the road! I was gifted #guesswheretrips #alltheprettythings. One of the recommended places to stay was the Harlem Stonegate Bed & Breakfast. Since I didn’t peek in the envelops, I didn’t know where we were going ahead of time. The location ended up being perfect for our adventure and was approximately 30 minutes away from our 1st location and even closer to the other stops. The hosts David and Alicia were warm and welcoming. They made sure we had everything we needed. We had an amazing stay in the Stonegate room for 2 nights. The room was spotless, the bed super comfy and the bedding luxurious! The breakfasts cooked by Alicia were memorable and the portion sizes generous. She was very accommodating and adjusted the meals based on allergies and preferences. On both days we had a large bowl of fruit served with homemade granola and yogurt. One the first day we also had a savoury dutch baby topped with greens from the garden. For the second breakfast we had crepes filled with bacon and mushrooms which were also accompanied with fresh greens. I am drooling just thinking about both those meals and I think they belong in a cookbook! Behind the house, the grounds have been left in a more natural state. In one location they have built a screened in sitting area near a pond and tall grasses. Our time was short so we only spent a half hour listening to nature but it would have been a perfect location to curl up with a book. Close by, David and Alicia are building a platform in preparation for a glamping experience which will include an outdoor shower. I can only imagine how breathtaking it would be to watch the sunrise and sunset from that location. Across the road there was a farm with four horses. We went to say hello at every opportunity and Alicia gave us carrots to feed the horses, which was definitely a highlight of our stay! A few tips to help plan your stay: * You will be asked to remove your shoes, you can use the slippers provided or bring your own * Restaurants in the area seem to close early (8pm) so plan accordingly. One of the best meals we had was at Scheuermann Vineyard & Winery in Westport where they serve pizza cooked in a wood burning oven. * Speaking of closing early - we had a junk food craving around 9 pm and realized that the closest store that was still open was in Westport. The B&B offers coffee, tea and bubbly water at all times so not a big deal, and now you know to bring supplies. * Consider bringing apples or carrots for the horses * The sitting area is screened in but a few mosquitoes found their way in, so consider bringing bug spray to keep them away. My partner and I had an amazing time and would definitely return. We both highly recommended the Harlem Stonegate Bed & Breakfast! Thank you David and Alicia for making us feel at home!!Kimberly H2023-05-21Serenity and excellence in Eastern Ontario Really wonderful! The property was beautiful, the room was perfect. So quiet and peaceful. The only sounds we heard were the owls hooting at night. What really made it was the excellent food. We opted to have dinner there so we didn’t have to drive into town. They perfectly accommodated food intolerances. Breakfast was also amazing. Definitely recommend!Gail G2022-10-21We found a gem! We cannot wait to go back! Dave and Alicia were the ultimate hosts and their service impeccable. We enjoyed every aspect from our night sky experience to the luxurious accommodations and the food. Oh, the food! True culinary talent although Alicia will tell you she is not a 'chef.' Everything home made and farm to table. We had two amazing breakfasts (omelets and crepes) and one dinner (grilled pork tenderloin medallions, beet salad, and butternut squash soup). All freshly made and delicious from the chutney to chocolate cherry cake. We will definitely be in contact for recipes! Our hosts were attentive and so easy to be with. They provided the right mix of company and privacy. We stayed in the Stonegate room and enjoyed the use of the fireplace nightly. Our room was beautifully appointed, no detail was missed. Such a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. Dave and Alicia, if you ever come to the Fingerlakes Region of Central NY, you have a place to stay. We hope you take us up on that! Bob & Gail G.SM Rocca2022-08-01Beautiful place We really enjoyed every aspect of our very short say but definitely will be returning. Alicia and David are the perfect hosts. Quiet screened porch was inviting. The hosts were very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely worth a stay if you are looking for a relaxing night away.HMK22021-09-23A lovely place to spend a weekend in early September 2021 Alicia and Dave were very kind and thoughtful hosts, informative, and gracious, but not intrusive. Their home is handsome and is located in a quiet and pretty area in the countryside. Some farm animals graze happily across the road. The B&B is well kept and clean - I have been *extremely* cautious during the pandemic and I felt safe here. Our K bed was very comfortable. The meals! … I’m a very good home cook (and a foodie) and I say without hesitation that Alicia made some of the best meals that I've ever eaten in B&B's both in NA or Europe or at fine restaurants. We had a planned dinner at the B&B as well as 2 breakfasts. All outstanding. My husband and I ate all our meals in the screened-in porch on the W side of the building, well distanced from another couple at breakfast. The porch is lovely, old fashioned, comfortable, and very protected. Thank you Alicia and Dave. We wish you much continued success! And I still think a cooking school/vacation retreat would be a great idea for you to pursue! :) Helen and Ed Kearns, Burlington ON
