Harlem Stonegate is 6 km from the Village of Portland and Len's Cove Marina on Big Rideau Lake, between the Narrows and Poonamalie lock stations of the Rideau Canal Waterway. From here, guests can easily access Big Rideau Lake by car or cycling, if traveling by road. We offer complementary shuttle service (Lens Cove Marina/Harlem Stonegate) for boating guests, while traveling the Rideau system - a fantastic trip! If desired, we can recommend activities for our guests and a provide picnic lunch for day trips in the area

Cycling Day Trips and Tours

With quiet, bucolic, well maintained country roads, the area represents a perfect place for cycling day trips and tours. There are a number of existing routes in the area that have been mapped and described in various guides. Below are links to help inspire your next cycling adventure. For guests wishing to take day trips in the area, bike rentals (with GPS), picnic lunch, and curated trip plans can be arranged.

  • Secure bike lock-up areas
  • Rest area, water and access to rest rooms
  • Repair area and compressed air
  • Access to local and regional cycling information
  • Healthy, local meals, and snack options (additional cost and advance notice required)
  • Overnight accommodations (additional cost and booking required)

 

Boating-Paddling

Explore numerous outstanding boating and paddling (canoe/kayak/paddleboard) routes, at your own pace, on the quiet and unique waters of the Rideau District. Some of the most picturesque and pristine waters of the Rideau system await you. Take along your fishing rod and lunch, and you’re set for the day!

Hiking-Backpacking

Scenic walking, hiking, and backpacking opportunities exist on numerous trail systems, which ramble through the forests and provincial parklands of the Rideau Canal District. Step back in history at one of the many lock stations, spot wildlife, or just marvel in the splendour of the natural beauty surrounding you.

Other Activities

South Eastern Ontario won’t disappoint! The region has an abundance of golf courses waiting for your next getaway. At the other end of Rideau Lake, a 25 minutes drive from Harlem Stonegate, is the beautiful Village of Westport.  In addition to horseback riding, the Village offers restaurants, shopping, and a winery.
